Councillor Martin Pashley and the clerk attended a meeting at the sea wall breach in February with representatives from Natural Resources Wales, Swansea Council, the National Trust and the Gower Society.

Chris Dale from Swansea Council has drawn up plans to install a footbridge over the breach, thus re-opening the coastal footpath. Currently, there is a long detour on the roads as the footpath by the side of the marsh is also closed due to falling ash trees.

A cheaper alternative to reinstating the footpath is to cut down the ash trees alongside the marsh, although not necessarily the preferred option by everyone. As well as funding, Swansea Council will need a marine licence, which has to be granted by NRW and we don’t know how easy either of these will be to obtain.
